As the clinical affiliate of New England College of Optometry, NECO Center for Eye Care is also a teaching facility committed to training new doctors. Our goal is to provide you with a thorough and professional experience while we train the next generation of optometrists.
WHAT WE DO
- We examine and assess your visual system.
- We deliver diagnostic testing and imaging to screen for and detect eye disease.
- We prescribe and fit you with glasses or contact lenses.
- We create a management plan specific to your needs.
- We provide referrals for specialized eye care.
- We consult with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
THINGS TO KNOW IN ADVANCE OF YOUR VISIT
- Please ensure that we have your current medical and vision insurance information at least three days before your appointment to give our staff time to verify your eligibility. Our administrative team is happy to help you better understand your benefits, but that is only possible if they receive your information far enough in advance.
- If insurance eligibility cannot be determined, we reserve the right to reschedule your visit.
- If your insurance carrier requires referrals for medical visits, please make sure to call your primary care provider’s office to obtain these referrals. Otherwise, you may be asked to reschedule for another day.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
On the day of your appointment, arrive at the clinic and check in at the reception desk. Please be sure to bring a photo ID along with any forms that the doctor has asked you to fill out.
DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
A comprehensive eye exam at our clinic is a thorough process that lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. It includes a dilated health check of your eyes, ensuring we leave no stone unturned in assessing your eye health. As a teaching institution, our clinical team is composed of optometry students, resident doctors, and staff doctors. The exam is largely conducted by a student clinician and overseen by an optometrist, guaranteeing a high standard of care.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
By the end of your appointment, we will have checked for any glasses or contact lens prescription, evaluated the health of your eyes, and discussed the exam findings and any necessary follow-up appointments. You will be shown to the front desk to check out of your appointment, complete exam payments, and schedule any further exams.
OPTICAL SHOP
Our in-house optical shops at Commonwealth and Roslindale, staffed by experienced optometrists and opticians, offer a wide range of eyewear to enhance your vision and meet your lifestyle needs.
