We take a co-management approach to collaborate with ophthalmologists on more complex eye care. Our optometrists can help you prepare for surgical procedures and provide continuity in follow-up care. We invite you to discuss additional needs with your NECO Center for Eye Care provider.

What are surgical co-management services?
Surgical co-management services involve collaborative patient care before and after eye surgery. NECO Center for Eye Care can provide pre-operative and post-operative care. Our longstanding relationships with several ophthalmology practices in Massachusetts promote continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.

What types of eye surgeries are commonly co-managed at NECO Eye Care Center?
We co-manage a variety of eye surgeries, including cataract surgery and refractive surgeries such as LASIK or Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK). When necessary, we can also refer patients for other surgical options, such as retinal or glaucoma surgery.

What is involved in a cataract evaluation?
A cataract evaluation at NECO Center for Eye Care includes a thorough examination to assess the extent of the cataract and its impact on vision. The review involves visual acuity testing, refraction, and an overall ocular health assessment with dilation. If cataracts impact a patient’s quality of life or activities of daily living, we will discuss surgical options and provide a referral to ophthalmology for a consultation.

How does NECO Center for Eye Care support patients interested in refractive surgery?
We provide comprehensive pre-and post-operative care for patients interested in refractive surgery, such as LASIK or PRK. Our doctors conduct a comprehensive eye examination to determine a patient’s candidacy for refractive surgery. We can provide detailed information about refractive surgery procedures, answer any questions our patients have about surgery, and offer referrals to experienced refractive surgeons.

We invite you to contact us to discuss surgical co-management options.
